Get Up and Walk

Words by M.Wilson, R.Heidler & Music by M.Wilson, S.Wilson, L.Squier

Release Your holy anointing in this place

We believe that Your promises will not return void
For it is written in Your eternal Word
No disease or infirmity, no ruler or principality
Can stand against the power of our God

Get Up and Walk, He said, for I am the God that heals you
Open your eyes, rise from the dead, I am the God that heals you
Unbreakable, unchangeable, forever settled in the heavens
Get Up and Walk, He said, for I am the God that heals you

Stir up the faith of Your people in this place

No deception of the enemy, no lie, no curse, no oppression
Can stop us from rejoicing in Your love
For we believe in miracles, that You are Lord of the impossible
And nothing can stand against Your mighty Word

Production Notes

Mik:
This song is truly an example of the pure flow and timing of the Holy Spirit.

Steve, LeAnn, and I were all attending an intense cell group at LeAnn's house during this time and LeAnn kept saying to me "There's a healing song...". Well, I first tried to take a shot at it on my own (without God's help) and of course, absolutely nothing came of it. I decided I wasn't the one to write it and quietly disposed of my work.

The next Wednesday Steve and I attended Pastor Robert Heidler's part 2 of a "healing series" at Glory of Zion. As he spoke the words "unbreakable, unchangeable, forever settled in the heavens" my spirit started jumping and I started looking for a pen. Then he said "...no disease or infirmity, no ruler or power can stand against the power of our God..." "...release a holy anointing in this place..." "...stir up the faith of your people in this place..." It was an incredible night. I left with a page of notes.

On Thursday,I started praising God and singing these things out in the studio at our house. I was being artsy and used "Jehovah Raphe the God that heals", but it didn't sound right so I went back to my notes. Jumping off the page - "Get up and Walk!" and "I am the God that heals you". That was it. It all fell into place. The rest of the words and the entire melody just flowed out like honey within about 30 minutes.

I took it to Leann telling her "well I've got something but I don't think it's a healing song..." She thought otherwise and started putting chords to it. Within 15 minutes we had a basic chord structure for the song. I was still somewhat unsure at the time, as it wasn't what I originally thought a healing song should be, but LeAnn really felt strong about it, and expressed to Steve that he should come over and work on it. We managed to corral him and put his creative energy to work the next night and in an hour or so, we had the song.

He quickly began to work on the actual music and that's a story I'll let him tell...
